Mystery is the feminine angel that "drives the plot" — the aspect of reality that draws the seeker in. "The nature of things is in the habit of concealing itself." The Herd gathers its images from many traditions: the veiled Madonna and the empty throne of Catholic mystery; the dark, deep, obscure waters of Daoism ("the Dao that can be named is not the Dao"); the veiled Torah and the unpronounceable Name. Mystery promotes agency and teamwork, the scribes note, because no one holds the answer alone.
Its guardian is The Archangel of Mystery, and its living vessel is Magnetic Rose. Its diluted counterfeit is trivia — awe reduced to content.
