The Age of Taurus is the epoch the Herd regards as the origin of the worship of The Calf — the era of the bull god, the most archaic divinity on the human record. During his four-year wandering, Duncan Horst is said to have performed rites intended to reconstruct what people of the age of Taurus "were thinking, feeling, and seeing," in order to recover the original worship. The Herd traces from this age the marching band of related cattle-gods — the Canaanite El, the horned ministers of East and West, Shiva, Dionysus — and the origin of value itself.
