The Movements are the simple bodily gestures the congregation learns in the course of The Rite of Ascent — one at each of the gates of The Cosmic Tree. Each is elementary on its own — "like a single letter in a dance" — but together they compose a single sequence by which The Eight Angels are honored and The Calf is called toward waking. When a Movement is learned, a flame is raised over its angel.
