Three candidates are recorded. Community is favored by those who hold the Herd's plainest teaching — "we need each other; human bonds are everything" — to be angelic in its own right. Faith and Freedom are advanced by others as the truer completion, and the canon presently notes only that the congregation must "decide which one we're doing here." The dispute is unresolved and, the scribes maintain, is not the same question as The Eighth Gate, which is by design left open.
