Qliphoth (singular qliphah), meaning "husks" or "shells," are, in Kabbalah, the shards of matter in which fallen sparks of divine light are trapped. The Herd uses the term for the present condition of The Calf: a husk, a vessel emptied of its spark, machinic and inert. To be "left in the husk" is the Herd's phrase for failing to cross into The Gift World — remaining in a disenchanted, light-starved reality after the way out has closed.
